Resident Supervision Policy

When a resident concludes that a transfer to another Residency Training Program might be beneficial, the Resident and the Program Director must be assured that the request to transfer is managed in an objective, fair, equitable and confidential manner.

External Transfers:

The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada has produced National Guidelines for trainees wishing to transfer from one Canadian University to another. These guidelines are intended to provide a transparent process that is clear to both the Resident and Universities involved. Prior to engaging in discussion regarding a transfer, it is the responsibility of the Resident to review the national guidelines as well as his or her home school’s transfer guideline / policy

Resident Vacation Policy

Residents have the right to a safe environment during their residency training including physical, emotional and professional security.

Resident Safety Policy

PGME recognizes that there is a tradition in medical education of peer physical examination.  However, PGME firmly believes that this method of teaching for Residents should only be reserved for formalized educational activities where it is deemed that the educational objectives cannot otherwise be similarly achieved through simulation, use of patients, or other teaching strategies.
