Course Overview:  This course will discuss various diagnoses and treatment options for ear/nose/throat problems seen in primary care offices. Through didactic sessions and guided hands-on practice sessions, participants will gain increased expertise in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of specific ENT presentations.

• distinguish the source of the patient’s presenting symptoms to rule out non-ENT etiologies
• develop and enhance their assessment, investigation and treatment skills

Including use of Pessaries and Follow-up of the Pessary Patient

Course Overview:  This course covers what prolapse is, how to distinguish when it is problematic, the options for management including which patients need to be referred, the use of pessaries and follow-up of patients with pessaries. A hands-on component provides the opportunity for participants to practice insertions and removals of pessaries in gynaecological models and with volunteer patients.
Course Objectives: Learners will be able to:
• Understand the definition, diagnosis and management options for prolapse and discern which patients are candidates for pessaries
• Apply the recommended principles and guidelines for use of pessaries
• Recognize potential complications and distinguish when and how to intervene

Course Overview:  With the Canadian “Car Culture”, it is very difficult to discuss and assess the potential loss of a license for a driver, whether due to age, ability or illness. This case-based course will explore the core issues, provide assessment tools/resources and discuss the impact on the patient and family.  Participants will practice with assessment tools and further develop their communication skills in scenario-based simulation.

Course Objectives: Learners will be able to:
• apply clinical reasoning approaches required to assess fitness to drive
• select the applicable assessment tool(s) and resources
• demonstrate appropriate communication approaches when discussing driving ability with clients and their families
Who Should Attend: MD, PA, NP, Geriatrician, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist
