ALUMNI | EVENT SPONSORSHIP

The Cumming School of Medicine Alumni Office helps alumni stay connected with the growing community at the Cumming School of Medicine. Each year, the Alumni Office provides financial support to projects and initiatives to strengthen the relationship between alumni and the Cumming School of Medicine; to enhance the alumni experience by offering opportunities to remained engaged and involved with the school; to connect current students with alumni; and to showcase the Cumming School of Medicine community and enhance the reputation of the University of Calgary.

Applications are reviewed twice yearly. Application deadlines are March 31 and September 30.

Funding Details

  • Events held locally are eligible for funding amounts up to $1000
  • Events held outside of Calgary are eligible for funding amounts up to $1500
  • Applications will be reviewed by the Medicine Alumni Advisory Council; funding decisions are at their discretion and are final.

Funding Criteria

High priority is given to events which are innovative and foster connections between alumni or between alumni and current students; which are university and/or community oriented; and which help enhance the reputation of the Cumming School of Medicine and enhance the alumni experience. 

Low priority is given to activities which are ordinarily supported by the Students’ Union or the Graduate Students’ Association, faculties or departments, or for which support is available through regular grants or awards.

Groups may not apply for or use funding to:

  • Obtain alcohol and related items
  • Obtain illegal items and substances
  • Pay wages, staff expenses, or honorariums
  • Contribute to fundraisers that primarily benefit external agencies or causes (excludes the event cost of a fundraiser)
  • Use funds toward personal travel to a conference or competition
