Our committees provide guidance to CHS academic and research programs and ensure our strategic vision is implemented effectively.

Strategic Planning & Implementation Committee

The purpose of the Strategic Planning & Implementation Committee is to provide advice and assist the Department Head in implementing the strategic plan and other important initiatives for the Department. This includes but is not limited to development of the undergraduate and graduate training programs, revitalizing department branding, and facilitating the department’s progression and growth.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and assistance to the Department Head regarding the development of the undergraduate and graduate training programs
  • Review themes/suggestions from Department Retreats and Councils and develop next steps for department progression and growth
  • Review Department branding and develop strategies to promote the Department
  • Leverage and engage in stakeholder and community engagement efforts

Engagement Committee

The Engagement Committee facilitates the development of a positive, supportive, and inclusive community environment for Department members. The Committee aims to:

  1. Develop, foster, and sustain a sense of community for all Department members;

  2. Identify and implement appropriate strategies to create or enhance relationships within and outside the University community;

  3. Initiate subcommittees as required to facilitate the execution of specific strategies; and 

  4. Propose an annual budget and work plan to the Department Head.

Membership:

The Department Head will invite faculty members to serve on the Committee for a term of two years, and graduate students for a term of one year, all with the option to renew.

Meeting Frequency:

Meetings will be held triannually, anticipating meetings in or before September, January and May.  The Chair may call meetings as needed; such meetings may be conducted either in person or by email.
