An academic critical care system delivering expert care beyond the walls of the ICU
ICU Outreach is Calgary’s physician-led hospital-wide critical care response model. Similar programs across Canada may be known as Rapid Response Teams (RRT), Medical Emergency Teams (MET), Critical Care Response Teams (CCRT), Critical Care Outreach Teams (CCOT), or Critical Care Outreach Services, depending on the province or healthcare organization.
Our goal is simple: to bring critical care expertise to deteriorating patients wherever they are — providing early recognition, timely intervention, and seamless transition to ICU-level care when needed.
The Calgary ICU Outreach Program provides a unique opportunity to practice broad-spectrum acute and critical care medicine within one of Canada’s largest integrated critical care systems.
