Biography
Dr. Andruchow is an emergency physician at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary and a clinician scientist with the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services. Dr. Andruchow was raised on a farm in Alberta, but did some medical tourism including completing his emergency medicine residency and fellowship at Harvard. His experience in the US created a strong interest in evidence-based practice and reducing unnecessary testing and treatment. His current research includes validating rapid-diagnostic algorithms for acute MI with high-sensitivity troponin, electronic decision support to improve evidence-based imaging for patients with head injuries and suspected PE, and optimizing management of patients with renal colic. Dr. Andruchow spends as much of his free time as he can outdoors, including mountain biking, working on his acreage in Bragg Creek and exploring nature with wife Rachel and daughter Ella.
