Letter from LiM Program Director

Dear LiM Colleagues,

It is my absolute pleasure to take on the role of LiM program director starting this summer 2021!

I am excited to get to know you all and support your growth and success in your future training.

I would like to first thank the existing LiM students for welcoming me as the program director, teaching me the ropes and for having such amazing ideas for the growth of the program. I commend you all on your excellence and innovative approaches.

For our new students we would like to welcome you to the LiM program at the Cumming School of Medicine! CONGRATULATIONS! Your achievements thus far have been immense! And it is our pleasure to have you join us all. We are the largest MD plus program in Canada, and the Cumming School in Medicine has outstanding graduate and undergraduate medical programs.

Our goal is to support your ongoing training as graduate students going into medicine, but to also help you to develop skills that will enable you to be a leader in your chosen field and future as a clinician. Our vision is to focus on supporting your journey through collegiate mentorship, development of skills in advocacy, communication, leadership, innovation, creativity and leading in undergraduate scholarly work.

The LiM program is meant to complement your training from graduate school and undergraduate medical education, and to give you the skills to be future leaders. This year we will be seeking your feedback about what is important to you, what we can include in this training to develop your skills and how we can continue to support your success. I encourage you to speak up and attend all the LiM sessions throughout the year!

I know the last year has been an immensely different and difficult time for many, and I want you to know our program supports you and truly value your contributions to the university, science and medicine. We are excited to grow together and look forward to seeing how your success blossoms!

Thank-you and please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.
