Poster Printing

We offer poster printing in various sizes and paper choices. We also design posters, and provide a poster template to download.

We generally encourage our clients to have an 11” x 17” sample poster (“proof”) printed before we reproduce their final documents at full size.  Typical turn-around times for sample proofs are 2-3 business hours. The cost for a sample proof is $10, and it will usually be printed on the same medium as the final document.

Large format prints at regular rates require 48 hours (not including weekends/holidays) from the time that we have all the information needed to start printing. Posters may be ready sooner, but this cannot be guaranteed for regular orders.

We are able to print posters in less than 48 hours, but these are considered a “Rush” order:

36 hours - 48 hours, a 25% rush fee applies

24 hours - 36 hours , a 50% rush fee applies

24 hours or same-day, a 100% rush fee applies

We guarantee the rush poster/s will be ready when needed, but do need at least 2 business hours for printing and drying of the poster/s.

 * NOTE:  SIZE RESTRICTION:  One dimension must be 42” (106.68 cm) or less for us to print.  There is no restriction on the longer edge. Documents created at a larger size can be scaled down by us (proportionately) during printing to fit this dimension, or smaller.

Paper Options

Presentation Paper (Matte)

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, matte finish, lightweight. Available in 36" only
Cons: Less than ideal for photographic content and cannot print with dark backgrounds.

Satin Photo Quality Paper (Semi-Gloss)

Pros: Affordable, semi-gloss, durable, good for printing documents with photos. Does not fade. Available in 36" and 42"
Cons: There are no cons - This is a great paper option.

Satin Photo Quality Paper (Glossy)

Pros: Affordable, glossy, durable, good for printing documents with photos. Does not fade. Available in 36" and 42"
Cons: There are no cons - This is a great paper option.

Poly-Film (Glossy)

Pros: Excellent for photo images, lightweight, color stable and vibrant color results. Available in 36" and 42"
Cons: A bit more costly, and surface defects (wear & tear) are sometimes more visible than on other mediums.

Fabric Polyester (Foldable)

Pros: Great option if you plan to travel with your poster, it can be folded and put in your suitcase for transport. You can iron (most hotels include an iron in room) on the back side of the poster to remove any creases after you get to your destination. Saves the hassle of traveling with a poster tube. Available in 36" and 42".
Cons: Slightly higher cost for the convenience.

Poster Design Tips

  1. The most common software applications used for poster creation are usually MS PowerPoint (2007, 2010, 2013), or PDF, as well as Photoshop or Illustrator. PowerPoint is probably the most common program used for poster design and text layout by our clients, but feel free to choose any one of the above applications. If using Illustrator, please create a high quality PDF at the same original size, to submit for printing.

  2. The most common poster size is 36" (91.44 cm.) x 48" (121.92 cm.), in either portrait or landscape mode. We can print as large as 42" (106.68 cm) wide, on Satin or Poly-Film media, but the extra width does add to the final price, and many documents will work fine with a maximum width of 36" (91.44 cm). Please note: PowerPoint will not allow you to use dimensions larger than 56" (142.24 cm). If you want your poster larger, please create it at half-size. We will enlarge the final print to your required size through the print menu.

  3. Use a bold font for the main title (96 pt), preferably a San Serif font (i.e. Arial). The body text should be 24 pts minimum, and can either be a Serif or San Serif font, depending on your preferences. The most legible layouts tend to use dark-coloured text on a white or light-coloured background, but many people do tend to use gradients or graphic images behind the main body of their content.

  4. When possible, use good quality images: pictures taken directly from Internet web pages are often low resolution, and will appear jagged and blurry. Also, do not cut or copy elements directly from other programs, such as Prism, and then paste them into PowerPoint. Please save the image files, and then use the "insert file" command, or else certain parts of the poster may be missing from the final print. Jpgs are usually reliable.

  5. To scale images and graphics, use the shift key then grab the corner, and then drag to the desired size. Using the shift key will ensure that both the horizontal width and vertical height remain directly proportional to the original element.

  6. Lastly, if you are creating posters on a Mac computer, please convert your files for printing to PDF, to avoid compatibility issues.

Yes, depending on their size. See our "Other Services" section for more information.

Poster margins are approximately ¼" on each side, which will result in a white border if your poster features a coloured background. This white border can be trimmed off on request.

Our poster printers produce a resolution of 600 pixels/inch (ppi). Providing digital images at resolutions above 600 ppi will not improve output quality, but will increase your file size.
