Come to the Welcome Centre

Moving to a new city for school can be overwhelming and stressful, but it doesn't have to be. If you need any help with your transition, visit the Welcome Centre in the Campus Community Hub (Yamnuska Hall, Unit 5).

The University of Calgary Welcome Centre has been offering support to students that are new to the city since 2014. It provides new-to-Calgary students with a central hub where they can ask questions, meet friends, engage in activities, and make Calgary their home away from home. Here, students can build relationships that will support them throughout their degrees and contribute to their sense of belonging.

Whether you're from another province or even another country, you're sure to get the help you need from the friendly student staff. They can assist with a variety of topics, such as banking, course enrolment, using transit, or preparing for the unpredictable Calgary weather.

Students also have the opportunity to engage in social activities. This year, we're bringing back popular events, like a trip to CrossIron Mills to get your back-to-school shopping done. Check our events calendar to stay up-to-date on events provided by Leadership and Student Engagement, the Faith and Spirituality Centre, the Campus Community Hub and the Women’s Resource Centre.

If you haven't arrived in Calgary just yet, be sure to download the Welcome Centre Student Handbook. Once you get here, stop by the Welcome Centre to meet our student staff and grab a tote bag filled with treats and swag.

The Welcome Centre is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday from Aug. 19–Sept. 4. They will also be open on Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 (Labour Day weekend) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. From Sept. 5–13, it will be open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
