Biography

About me
I am Abdoljalil (Jalil) Addeh, a graduate student at University of Calgary, research assistant at MacDonald Lab, and trainee at Hotchkiss Brain Institute. In my free time I enjoy reading history book

My research
My research interests include application of AI algorithms for Biomedical Signals & Images Processing. I am particularly interested in the effect of respiratory variation on functional magnetic resonance imaging data.

BRAIN CREATE program aspirations
My primary goal is to leverage this opportunity to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application, particularly in the realm of brain fMRI imaging. I am eager to participate in industrial placements where I can apply my technical skills and knowledge in a real-world setting, contributing to innovative projects and gaining practical experience.

Commercialization
The project's potential for commercialization is anchored in its cutting-edge technique for deriving respiratory variation (RV) from blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) fMRI signals, bypassing the need for external respiratory tracking devices. Utilizing a convolutional neural network (CNN), this method can accurately reconstruct RV time series, particularly during significant respiratory events. This innovation streamlines the fMRI process, diminishing both cost and complexity in data collection, and markedly enhances the patient experience. It holds substantial promise for widespread acceptance in clinical and research environments where non-invasive and patient-centric imaging technologies are highly sought after.
