BRAIN CREATE postdoc Dr. Jacquie Baker receives the Royal Society of Canada Alice Wilson Award

The Alice Wilson Award is awarded to three women of outstanding academic qualifications who are entering a career in scholarship or research at the postdoctoral level.

Jacquie's research focuses on debilitating disorders of the autonomic nervous system; disorders uniquely positioned between cardiology and neurology. During her doctoral studies, her research focused on patients with autonomic failure. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Calgary, Jacquie is developing a new technique to assess autonomic activity and microvascular function within the brain and exploring a novel therapy to improve blood pressure regulation for patients. This research will translate into cutting-edge clinical care.

The Alice Wilson Award is awarded to three women of outstanding academic qualifications who are entering a career in scholarship or research at the postdoctoral level. The recipients are chosen from the current year’s female winners of postdoctoral fellowships from each of the three granting councils - the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).
