Sandra Goldsworthy named new associate dean of teaching, learning & technology

Sandra Goldsworthy has been appointed Associate Dean Teaching, Learning & Technology in the Faculty of Nursing, effective September 1, 2017.      

Goldsworthy joined the University of Calgary in December 2014 as associate professor. Her track record includes more than 30 years of teaching experience in clinical practice settings and in college, university, and interprofessional contexts. She has a reputation as a mentor and team builder, and is experienced in online curriculum development and implementation.

At the University of Calgary, Dr. Goldsworthy holds a Professorship in Simulation Education with the Faculty of Nursing, and has been recognized by the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning as one of ten inaugural Teaching Scholars. Over the past two and a half years, she has established an exciting program of research exploring topics related to the use of simulation and technology in education, interprofessional education, and influences on nursing graduate transition to practice, confidence and retention in the discipline.

In her role as associate dean, she will provide direction and support to faculty members for teaching development, and advancement of excellence in nursing education. She will provide academic leadership and oversight for the Clinical Simulation and Learning Centre (CSLC), and for integration of simulation and other technologies across curricula. She will also be a key liaison between the broader university teaching and learning community and the Faculty of Nursing.
