Biography

Bonnie Sept is a Family Advisor and former Critical Care employee with Alberta Health Services (AHS). Bonnie Sept became interested in supporting Critical Care Research during her role as an Administrative Assistant within the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Foothills Medical Centre. After her retirement she returned to Critical Care in a new capacity as a research assistant with the focus of integrating family presence into ICU rounds. She is inspired by the opportunity to help balance traditional scientific research while empowering patients and their families to be involved in a meaningful way during their ICU stay. Bonnie has assisted with numerous studies within the Calgary Critical Care Research Network as a patient researcher and partner. Bonnie enjoys working with patients and families and therefore understands the importance of family as emotional supporters of critically ill patients which has been impacted during infectious disease outbreaks seen in COVID-19. Bonnie will aid in knowledge translation and dissemination in this important work surrounding visitation policies enacted by the emergence of COVID-19.
