Melanie Vergeer

Melanie obtained her MSc in Human Movement Sciences specialized in Health and Rehabilitation from Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Her MSc thesis was completed at The Centre for Elite Sports Research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology under Dr. Baumgart’s supervision. She also received her Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation from The University of Calgary, ending with a semester abroad at The University of Western Australia. Melanie’s current research under the supervision of Dr. Debert includes the multi-site clinical trial At-home Rehabilitation for Concussion study as well as using Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy as a biomarker of response in patients with Post-concussion Syndrome treated with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Her previous experience with sport-related concussion inspire her to investigate mechanisms to moderate disability after traumatic brain injuries. In her personal time, she enjoys travelling and spending time outdoors.
