Samantha McIntosh BHSc
MSc Candidate
BNR Lab
Samantha received her BHSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Calgary. She completed her honours project in Dr. Debert’s lab, examining sleep disturbance in adults with persistent post-concussive symptoms using wrist-worn actigraphy. Samantha’s MSc thesis work focus is on the RACE Concussion Study, investigating Rapid, Accurate, and Cost-Effective blood biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of concussion. She has a specific interest in identifying prognostic indicators for the development of persistent post-concussive symptoms in adults diagnosed with concussion in the emergency department. Samantha is interested in developing a clinical prediction tool for persisting concussion symptoms in adults that may allow physicians to identify and refer at-risk patients to outpatient brain injury resources. Samantha’s extracurricular activities include coaching field hockey and teaching exercise classes to individuals affected by cancer as well as staying active by walking her dog and participating in basketball intramurals.
