Head & Neck Program | Central Triage
Central Triage
The Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Program provides a central triage service for rapid access and assessment of patients with suspected head and neck cancer. Physicians, dentists, and other specialists can refer patients with suspected or confirmed head and neck cancer directly to the central triage.
Patients with concerning lesions of the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, skull base, neck, salivary gland, and skin are all appropriate for rapid assessment.
Referring Physicians
Referring doctors can phone central triage to speak directly with the central triage coordinator or fax a referral via the central triage fax line. Internally, the program will process the referrals and ensure that patients are seen in a timely fashion and triaged to the most appropriate team member.
Specialists from the head and neck oncology program are also happy to speak with the referring doctor directly. The central triage coordinator can facilitate this upon request.
When referring a patient to central triage, we ask that all pertinent investigations (CT scan, biopsy report, etc.) are included in the referral package. It is, however, not essential to have performed any investigations prior to referral to central triage.
