Allied Health Professionals
A cancer diagnosis has an impact on emotional and social function and can be devastating. For this reason, patients of the Head and Neck Surgery Program have access to social work, nutrition, psychological, and palliative care services, and patients’ primary care physicians are informed of all steps of care. Our Allied Health Care Team Members include:
- Psychosocial support to help patients deal with emotional challenges, such as changes in body image, social roles and dependence upon others.
- Multi-faith spiritual support, including addressing questions such as how to find meaning and hope while living with cancer.
- Support groups for patients in active treatment, stress management classes, and a full array of wellness workshops.
- Nutritional Support. Maintaining nutrition is very important for all cancer patients and especially challenging for head and neck cancer patients who may experience loss of appetite and have difficulty eating.
