Scholarships are a great way to help fund your post-secondary education. Here are a few tips to help with finding and applying for awards, as well as an overview of the kinds of awards that are available at UCalgary.

Where to search

Visit the awards website frequently. That's where you'll find the most up-to-date information as well as highlights of awards with upcoming deadlines.

Which awards are available

Every year UCalgary offers many continuing student awards. You can apply for these after you complete your first year of studies. To apply, simply submit one application and you'll be considered for any and all awards you're eligible for. This application is available every summer from June 1 to Aug. 1.

UCalgary also offers prestige awards to high-achieving students. You’ll find awards like the Chancellor’s Scholarship ($40,000 over four years) and the Richard and Lois Haskayne Legacy Scholarship ($25,000 renewable). The university also offers awards for professional programs and has information on government awards, Indigenous awards as well as international awards.

You can look up all of the awards available to you as a student through the awards database online. The tool allows you to add criteria such as citizenship and residency, faculty, year of study, and extracurricular factors so you can further narrow your search.

How to get assistance

If you’re not sure what to apply for, get in touch with the Student Success Centre. One of their academic development specialists can help you explore the different awards you can apply for, and they'll also help you understand the application process.
