Imaging Centres

Image Science consists of five imaging centres, imaging across the spectrum

MR Centre

The Seaman Family MR Centre

Based at the Foothills Hospital, the Seaman Family MR Centre focuses strongly on neurological and vascular imaging. With two 3 Tesla human MRI scanners, they are the primary centre for adult MRI-based imaging research.

Jeff Dunn

The Experimental Imaging Centre

The Experimental Imaging Centre focuses on small animal and optical imaging. This centre is also equipped with animal surgery facilities. The centre houses a 9.4 Tesla, 20cm, Bruker MRI.

Child and Adolescent Imaging Research Program

Based out of the Alberta Children's Hospital, the Child and Adolescent Imaging Research Program is primarily used for paediatric MR research. They have a 3 Tesla MRI scanner and an MRI simulator and focus mainly on neurological research.

Mojo scanner

Centre for Mobility and Joint Health

Researchers at the new Centre for Mobility and Joint Health (MoJo) at the McCaig Institute in the Cumming School of Medicine are using state-of-the-art imaging, motion assessment and diagnostic equipment to assess individual bone and joint health on every level. Researchers work with the Alberta health system, physicians and patients to develop new technologies for the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint conditions.

The Stephenson Cardiovascular MR Centre

The Stephenson Cardiovascular MR Centre deals primarily with cardiac scanning. This joint effort between the Libin Cardiovascular Institute, the Department of Cardiology, and the Department of Radiology houses a 3 Tesla MRI scanner.
