The Braun lab is located in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.
The University of Calgary has over 33,000 students (find more information here).
Postdoctoral Scholars
The Braun lab welcomes Postdoctoral scholars with diverse research backgrounds. Our work on molecular chaperones provides many experimental opportunities while still making use of your own expertise. Postdoctoral scholars will have opportunities to develop the skills for future careers in academia, industry, medicine or teaching.

Graduate Students
It is such an exciting time to be a life scientist. Today there is so much potential for science to have immense practical impact on people's lives. As an incoming graduate student you have accomplished much already—but graduate studies offers significant opportunities for intellectual exploration and growth. In our graduate programs, students refine their scientific way of thinking, become independent learners and develop strong career paths.
Graduate students may join the Braun Laboratory through two graduate programs. Both programs offer a vibrant range of new opportunities and situations that require informed decisions. The Graduate studies web sites will assist you with the necessary information.
The Braun lab uses a wide variety of approaches including biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology. Therefore, students have the opportunity to learn many different experimental strategies to biological questions. Travel scholarships to scientific meetings are available within our faculty. Opportunities for mentoring undergraduates are available.
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate research provides students with practical training and mentoring in cellular and biochemical techniques and a knowledge of neural cell biology The undergraduate research experience connects the seemingly disparate concepts taught in undergraduate courses to produce a coherent picture of neurobiology. Undergraduate students participate in laboratory meetings and laboratory social functions and present their research project to the Neuroscience community at the Annual Neuroscience Summer Student Research Symposium.
Undergraduate students interested in working with us, please send the following in HARD COPY:
- A letter stating your goals and interests in the Braun Laboratory, including when you would like to start and how long you would like to stay.
- Academic transcript.
Summer Funding:
All undergraduates interested in working during the summer must apply for summer support. Funding is available from AHFMR and NSERC. Check the websites for application deadlines.
No funding is provided during the academic year. Academic credits may be available.
