Chunfu Zheng

Biography

Dr. Chunfu Zheng is selected in the 2022 Global Scholars Academic EliteRanking, one of the world's top 100k scientists, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Calgary (https://cumming.ucalgary.ca/departments/microinfect/chunfu-zheng), Calgary, Canada. Dr. Zheng's research is internationally recognized for his contributions to the antiviral innate immunity to herpesviruses, such as herpes simplex virus type 1/2 and varicella-zoster virus, and viral immune evasion mechanism. Dr. Zheng has published more than 120 peer-review biomedical research articles in prestigious journals such as Lancet Microbe, Trends in Microbiology, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, Microbiology and Molecular Biology Reviews (Cover story), FEMS Microbiology Reviews, Blood, Cell Host & Microbe, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, Journal of Medical Virology (10 papers), Cytokine & Growth Factor Reviews  (2 papers), Reviews in Medical Virology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, mBio, Journal of Biomedical Science, Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, Journal of Virology  (28 papers, including 1 cover story, 2 spotlighted feature papers), Journal of Immunology  (2 papers), Protein and Cell  (2 papers). He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Chongqing Medical University, China, and completed post-doctoral training at the University of Saskatchewan and University of Calgary in Canada. Before joining Fujian Medical University, Dr. Zheng was a Professor at Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Soochow University, China. Dr. Zheng has earned numerous awards and distinctions, including the Hundred-Talent Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Top25 reviewers for Journal of Virology (2019, 2020, 2021), and Publons Top 1% peer reviewers (2019-2020). Dr. Zheng serves as an editor of mBio, an Editorial board member of Journal of Virology and Military Medical Research, and an Associate Editor of Journal of Medical Virology, Virology Journal, Frontiers in Immunology, Frontiers in Microbiology, and Gene, Protein and Disease.
