Reversal of Atrial Substrate to Prevent Atrial Fibrillation

Objective

A multi-center, randomized trial to examine the effect of aggressive risk factor control and arrhythmia trigger-based intervention on recurrence of atrial fibrillation.

  1. Inclusion

    • Symptomatic, documented PAF or PersAF (<3yrs)

    • BMI > 30   *OR*

    • Two of the following:

      • >65 years old

      • BMI >27

      • BP 140/90 or Hx of HTN

      • Diabetes

      • CHF (IP admission or LVEF <40%)

  2. Exclusion

    • Perm AF (>3y)

    • Prior PVI

    • LA > 5.5cm

    • NYHA IV

    • Cardiac rehab past 12m.

    • Current exercise >150m/week

    • Unable to exercise
