Biography

About me

I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Hotchkiss Brain Institute. I have a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Queen’s University and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia.

My research

I research the mechanisms of learning and memory, and the etiology of neuropsychiatric symptoms, with a focus on cortical-subcortical interactions. I work in the laboratories of Dr. Alexander McGirr and Dr. Patrick Whelan, using advanced fluorescence imaging, optogenetic, and electrophysiology tools in mice.

BRAIN CREATE program aspirations

The program is supporting the development of technical tools whose overarching goal is to extract detailed information from brain activity in behaving animals. This involves the combination of electrophysiology and imaging modalities, as well as the miniaturization of imaging tools to permit mobility.

Commercialization

These tools may have commercialization potential if they open up avenues of research in the broader community.
