Biography

About me

I am an MSc student in Jeff Dunn’s lab investigating functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in concussion. I am from Toronto and did my undergraduate at the University of Toronto. I specialized in neuroscience, physiology, and psychology

My research

I have a background in clinical research related to Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, and Plastic Surgery. I am currently studying concussion in adolescents using fNIRS. I work in the Experimental Imaging Center under Jeff Dunn.

BRAIN CREATE program aspirations

I am hoping to participate in an expedition or academic exchange that will allow me to expand my knowledge of imaging and clinical applications of fNIRS; a portable functional neuroimaging tool. I hope to apply the research and skills from my master’s eventually as a physician.

Commercialization

Application of fNIRS in concussion has the potential for clinical translation because of cost and accessibility; it may be used in a sports facility or clinic and provide quantitative measures for “return to play” decision making. It may also provide a quantitative measure of response to new treatment and future research.
