Biography

Dr. Gregg Nelson is Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Cumming School of Medicine and is Section Chief of Gynecologic Oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. His principal research interests are: i) the development and study of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols in OB-Gyn and cancer surgery, and ii) HPV vaccination in First Nation's populations. He holds the position of Surgical Lead, ERAS Alberta and leads the ERAS® Society Women’s Health Chapter that published the ERAS® Guidelines for Gynecologic/Oncology Surgery, ERAS® Guidelines for Cesarean Delivery, and ERAS® Guidelines for vulvar and vaginal surgery. Dr. Nelson has received over $7,000,000 in grant funding, authored >180 peer-reviewed publications, and is the editor of the upcoming ERAS® Society Handbook for Obstetrics & Gynecology (Elsevier). He has been invited to present numerous times internationally, serves as the Social Media Editor of Gynecologic Oncology and Gynecologic Oncology Reports, and is the Secretary of the ERAS® Society. Dr. Nelson recently has been named Secretary-Treasurer Elect of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada and is the in-coming Chair of the Gynecologic Oncology Specialty Committee at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
