Rotation Specific Information

Mandatory Rotations

Rotations completed contiguously over 2-4 weeks of time

  1. Adult Emergency Medicine

    Required for Peds stream residents

     

     

  2. Adult Trauma

    Required for Peds stream residents

     

  3. Anesthesia

    Required for approval for Transport team participation

     

  4. Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology)

    A combination of ImageSIM and PoCUS training

     

  5. Point of Care Ultrasounds (KidSONO)

    A combination of ImageSIM and PoCUS training

     

  6. Neonatal ICU

    Required for EM stream residents

     

  7. Orthopedics

    Four week rotation

  8. Pediatric Emergency Medicine

    13 blocks required over the course of two years

     

  9. Pediatric ICU

    Required for approval for Transport team participation

  10. Plastic Surgery

    Minimum two weeks required

  11. Toxicology

    Option of site, including local PADIS centre or NY Poison Centre

  1. Administration/QI/Safety

    Two-year longitudinal curriculum

     

  2. EMS (Prehospital, Transport and Disaster Medicine)

    Two week rotation

     

  3. Research

    Two-year longitudinal curriculum 

  4. Teaching Longitudinal Curriculum

    Residents have many opportunities to teach in bedside, small group, large group, and sim based educational settings during their program

  5. Ambulatory Clinics

    Two-year longitudinal curriculum


Elective Rotations

Residents have two blocks designated for electives. They are encouraged to spend at least one PEM elective block at a different hospital to explore diverse career opportunities and gain broader experience.
