Leadership and Administration
Program Director
Dr Russell Lam MD FRCPC
Russell Lam was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He completed his medical degree at the University of Calgary and his Pediatric Residency at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He returned to Calgary for his Pediatric Emergency Medicine Subspecialty Residency. He has been an attending physician at the Alberta Children’s Hospital since 2013. In 2022, he became the PEM subspecialty residency program director.
His academic interests include mentorship, coaching, and medical education. His personal interests include espresso, running, Air Jordan's, photography, hi-fi audio, stationary, road cycling, personal finance, jazz piano, and acoustic guitar. He hopes to one day run a coffee shop or write a memoir entitled: “My Opinions.”
Assistant Program Director
Dr Robyn Buna MD
Dr. Buna completed her medical school in the UBC Southern Medical Program before moving to Calgary for Pediatrics Residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. After completing her training, she has stayed in Calgary to join the amazing Emergency Department at Alberta Children's Hospital. Her hobbies include basketball, walking her dog Frankie and watching terrible TV. As the new Assistant Program Director, she is looking forward to giving back to the program that helped her become the PEM physician she is today.
Program Administrator
Karly Luca
An employee of AHS since 2019, Karly has supported many of the senior staff in the Department of Pediatrics. She is excited to learn more about the PGME experience and help those on their medical education journey! In her spare time you can find Karly out on the water on her paddleboard, at one of the many off leash parks with her pup Olive, or supporting her kids in the volleyball gyms.
