Meet our Fellows

Our fellowship is a tight knit family and we are each other's biggest cheerleaders. They come from a mixed background of pediatrics or emergency medicine residency programs. Learn more about our current crew!

Mary

Mary Tong

Mary is one of our second year fellows coming from Winnipeg (or "Winterpeg" as some call it). She completed her undergraduate training and medical school at McMaster University and moved to Winnipeg for her residency. Much to her excitement, she’s making the move even further out West to explore the city of Calgary and the breathtaking Rocky Mountains. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and a professional napper. She enjoys cooking and baking, and is a proud mom to her sourdough starter Breadward (yes, she was one of those people during the pandemic).

Will

William MacDougall

Will is one of our second year PEM fellows hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba! Will grew up in the "Peg", and completed both medical school and pediatric residency at the University of Manitoba. In his spare time, Will loves to boulder, hike and ski (and having grown up in the flat lands he couldn't be more excited to be living near the mountains!). He is also a passionate beer nerd, and loves to explore local craft breweries.

Dana

Dana Stewart

A born and raised Calgarian, Dana is a second year fellow in the PEM program in her home town, after completing her undergrad degree at Queen’s University.  Dana moved back to Calgary for medical school and residency where she just recently completed her adult emergency medicine training.

Outside of the emerg, you’ll find Dana training for her next marathon, cycling, playing intramural basketball, or getting her weekly serotonin boost meandering through one of Calgary’s local dog parks (despite unfortunately not owning a dog of her own…yet).

Michelle

Michelle Fric

Michelle is from Calgary so she couldn’t be happier to be starting her PEM fellowship in her hometown. She completed undergrad at Western University, then went onto medical school at the University of Alberta, before moving back to Calgary where she completed her pediatrics residency.  Being from Calgary, Michelle loves being able to go to family dinner every Sunday night at her parents’ house. She also values her time spent in Calgary’s beautiful parks, walking her two babies: Maggie the black lab and Sophie the Cavapoo puppy. She is always planning her next trip and happy to offer free travel consultations after her recent African Safari.

Keon

Keon Ma

Keon is a native Calgarian and one of the incoming first year fellows. After completing medical school in Edmonton, he came back to Calgary for pediatric residency, and is excited to join the PEM family here in his home town! In his free time, he plays on a volleyball team, inspired after watching the anime Haikyuu. He enjoys being a homebody just as much as he is open to new adventures with his church, family and friends. When he is not outdoors or gardening, he can be found adding to his collection of houseplants, and is always down to share cuttings and plant babies.
