What is the background of this study?
Researchers at the University of Calgary (led by Dr. Lauren Walker, RPsych) have been developing trauma-informed care guidelines for pelvic health care with a group of multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals and patients who have experienced trauma histories and accessed pelvic health care.
Whose voices are included in guideline development?
The proposed guidelines have been contributed to by a multi-disciplinary team of 20 providers representing gynecology, urology, oncology, family medicine, sexual health, pelvic floor physio and midwifery. Patients are also invited to lend their feedback.
How can you help?
The team is currently seeking feedback from healthcare providers from these backgrounds about the proposed guidelines including practices and potential barriers and facilitators to implementation of these practices.
The survey should take about 15-20 minutes and is best completed on a computer. Feedback to date has suggested the participation in the survey presents a valuable learning opportunity about trauma informed care as it relates to pelvic health. Thank you for considering participating.
