What is the background of this study?
Researchers at the University of Calgary (led by Dr. Lauren Walker, RPsych) have been developing trauma-informed care guidelines for pelvic health care with a group of multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals and patients who have experienced trauma histories and accessed pelvic health care.
Whose voices are included in guideline development?
The proposed guidelines have been contributed to by a multi-disciplinary team of 20 providers representing gynecology, urology, oncology, family medicine, sexual health, pelvic floor physio and midwifery. Patients are also invited to lend their feedback.
How can you help?
The team is currently seeking feedback from from patients who have received pelvic health care in the past 5 years, who also have a history of experiencing medical or sexual trauma.
The survey should take about 15-20 minutes and is best completed on a computer. Thank you for considering participating.
Eligibility for Study
To Be Eligible as a Patient, You Must:
Be over the age of 18
Have Have a history of medical or sexual trauma (experienced greater than one year ago)
Have accessed pelvic health care in the past 5 years
Able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently
