Xi-Long Zheng

Professor, Principal Investigator
Dr. Zheng established his lab at the University of Calgary in 2001 after his Ph.D. and postdoctoral training in Calgary and New York (1993 ‒ 2000). Dr. Zheng's research involves the pathogenesis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, atherosclerosis, and coronary arterial heart disease.

Yu Gui

Yu Gui, M.D., Ph.D.

Senior Research Associate, Lab Manager

Dr. Gui is currently overseeing all research projects and also managing laboratory operations. For new people coming to the laboratory, Dr. Gui provides basic training, such as Laser scanning cytometry, confocal imaging, western blotting, etc. She also conducts her independent research projects.

Stephanie is currently an MSc student in the Cardiovascular & Respiratory Sciences Program of the University of Calgary with studentship support from the Libin Cardiovascular Institute. Her research project is to investigate epigenetic mechanisms underlying smooth muscle functional regulation.

Junyu Pei, MD

Junyu is currently a visiting Ph.D. student (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from Dr. Hu Xinqun's laboratory at Central South University, China. Dr. Pei is supported by Doctoral Scholarship Award from China Scholarship Council (CSC). His research project is to determine the effects of cannabinoids on the cardiovascular system.

Wen is a CSC-supported visiting Ph.D. graduate from Cardiovascular Medicine, the Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Hunan, China. His research project examines the functional roles of MALT1 in the pathogenesis of  Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).

Lingli is currently a visiting Ph.D. graduate from Integrative Chinese and Western Medical College, Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, Changsha, China. Her research project is to determine the role of salt-inducible kinase (SIK) 2 in the cardiovascular system.
