Alberta Netcare

Known as the provincial Electronic Health Record (EHR), is a secure and confidential electronic system. It is accessible to health professionals and contains Albertans’ personal health information. Netcare allows access to all laboratory reports, consultation letters, medications, and Diagnostic imaging records for patients across Alberta. Netcare has allowed for patient care to be streamlined and has helped to prevent delays in comprehensive patient care.


PARA:

PARA is the Professional Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta. Please review the website ( http://para-ab.ca/starting-residency/) as you will have the opportunity to review the Resident Physician agreement as well as a wealth of additional information.

 
Ethics:

At the University of Calgary, there are two Research Ethics Boards responsible for reviewing research applications involving human participants:  The Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board (CHREB) and the Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board (CFREB).  The Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board (CHREB) reviews applications from Researchers affiliated with the Faculties of:
•    Kinesiology
•    Medicine
•    Nursing

New applications to the CHREB are created and submitted online using IRISS. There are no paper application forms.


Internet Access:

Internet access is secure and available at all AHS teaching sites. Personal emails are not used.  Communications will only be sent to AHS and University of Calgary email addresses.  
U of C – All residents must obtain a student card in order to have online access to library and medical journals


Hospital support:

We have 24-7 access to a language line to assist with effective patient communication for non-English speaking patients. Residents Lounges and 24/7 food is available at all teaching sites.
