Indigenous Ways
Knowing, being, connecting, and doing in the context of your work
Learning Opportunities for CSM Faculty
Indigenous health and education experts across the university have created a variety of programs, workshops, and resources to support faculty members in their efforts to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing, being, doing, and connecting into their practice. These opportunities are brought to you by our colleagues in Indigenous Health, the Office of Indigenous Engagement, and other units, but many of the in-person offerings can be hosted at CSM by special request (with sufficient participant numbers).
- Meet your obligations in the path toward reconciliation.
- Build culturally safe campus communities for Indigenous peoples.
- Expand your understanding of Indigenous methodologies and epistemologies.
- Participate in cultural teachings with Indigenous elders, scholars, and artists.
- Enhance your ability to decolonize and Indigenize learning experiences.
We know that members of the CSM community are busy people who are committed to reconciliation and Indigenous ways of knowing, therefore the goal of this page is to make it as clear and accessible as possible for you to find all the resources available to you.
Reconciliation Leadership Foundations
Program by Dr. Pamela Roach
Addressing the urgent need to decolonize and Indigenize health requires leaders to have a foundational understanding of key concepts and barriers to decolonization and Indigenization. In support of this goal, Reconciliation Leadership Foundations is a series of three 3-hour sessions for leaders working in and across health systems. This course is intended to enable current and future leaders in health to transform ways of being, connecting, and doing in the hopes of catalyzing systemic change.
Specifically, this interactive course will delve into the TRC’s Calls to Action (18-24) and the impacts of anti-Indigenous racism in health. In addition, a key experiential focus of the course will provide time, space, and support for leaders to engage in change implementation planning for a decolonization / Indigenization project relevant to their own area of work.
