What the current Scientist Educator has to say...

  1. Are you passionate about the future of education and mentoring colleague?

The Scientist Educator position at OFDP offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our community. As the outgoing Scientist Educator, I found this role incredibly rewarding. Joining the OFDP allowed me the opportunity to have an upstream role in encouraging excellence in teaching and learning at the CSM. I have had the privilege to provide one-on-one faculty advising for teaching improvement and curricular/course development, collaborate on the OFDP website redesign, conduct a needs assessment for teaching programs within CSM, and support colleagues participating in our Teaching Excellence Programs. Moreover, this role provided a great opportunity to further develop my own educational leadership skills while working alongside the incredible OFDP team. The future Scientist Educator will have an opportunity to develop innovative educational content tailored to Foundational Science Departments and deliver sessions in various settings from workshops to online resources. Collaboration is key; you’ll work closely with units, departments, and institutes within and beyond the Cumming School of Medicine to promote community and teaching and learning culture throughout the faculty. We’re seeking candidates who embody compassion, collaboration, and innovation in education. Whether you have experience in faculty development, teaching, or both, we welcome individuals eager to drive positive change within our institution. If this sounds like something you are interested in, you are welcome to reach out to me as I would be happy to chat about the exciting potentials of this role!
