The Amyloidosis Program of Calgary utilizes a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat this multi-organ condition. The program brings together specialists from multiple areas involved in delivering care to patients with amyloidosis, in addition to members engaged in other activities designed to advance amyloidosis care such as education and research.

Dr. Nowell Fine
Co-Director
Dr. Fine is a heart failure cardiologist and echocardiologist, and an Associate Clinical Professor of Cardiac Sciences, Medicine, and Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine. He is the Clinical Director of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute, Director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis Clinic and co-principal investigator for the Canadian Registry for Amyloidosis Research.
Dr. Chris Hahn
Co-Director
Dr. Hahn is an Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Calgary Electromyography Lab and divides his clinical time between Neuromuscular and Neuroimmunology clinics.
Dr. Victor Jimenez-Zepeda
Co-Director
Dr. Victor H. Jimenez-Zepeda is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary's Cumming School of Medicine. He leads the clinical program for AL amyloidosis at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and is the founder of the clinic for the assessment of Monoclonal Gammopathy of Clinical and Undetermined Significance and the Amyloid Screening Clinic. Dr. Jimenez-Zepeda is also a member of the International Kidney and Monoclonal Gammopathy group and the International Society of Amyloidosis.
Etienne Mahe
Co-Director
Dr. Etienne Mahe is an hematopathologist, molecular pathologist and clinical associate professor in the Departments of Laboratory Medicine and Medicine, Division of Hematology and Hematological Malignancies, of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. His research interests include aspects of clonality and the molecular genetics of hematolymphoid malignancies, including those with a propensity for amyloid-related pathology, bioinformatics, and biostatistics. Dr. Mahe is involved in teaching at various levels, as well as supervision of learners in associated research areas, and is a member of the Charbonneau Cancer Institute.
Jan Veenhuyzen
Program Manager
Jan Veenhuyzen earned a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary and has over 25 years of cardiac nursing experience including critical care, cardiac rehabilitation, ambulatory clinics, program development and more than 15 years in clinical research. Jan's role within the Amyloidosis Program of Calgary involves program development, coordination, and clinical research.
Seenam Sharma
Clinical Research Coordinator
Seenam Sharma holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree and has seven years of research experience overseeing safety aspects in clinical trials, particularly in oncology and cardiology studies. She has actively contributed to Phase III dermatology studies. In this role, she engages in research and program responsibilities while deepening her understanding of amyloidosis.
