Clinical Care
Enabling coordinated and collaborative care for amyloidosis patients.
Local Expertise & Excellence In Care
Our clinical care initiatives focus on developing local expertise and promoting excellence in the care of amyloidosis patients. We aim to enhance patient care by creating standardized care pathways, quality care benchmarks, and developing new approaches to optimize patient outcomes within a multi-disciplinary framework.
Our Initiatives
We’re dedicated to improving patient outcomes through our clinical care initiatives, which include:
The Amyloidosis Program of Calgary is a multi-specialty and multi-disciplinary group of health care professionals collaborating to provide care to amyloidosis patients within Calgary and the surrounding region. Comprehensive care is provided through multiple clinics and service locations across the city. Patients with known or suspected amyloidosis of all sub-types can be referred to any of the clinics or service providers listed within the Alberta Referral Directory’s Amyloidosis Program of Calgary profile listing, depending on the patient’s predominant symptoms and suspected sub-type.

Currently, we are in the process of developing a Provincial Care Pathway and related Connect Care order set to facilitate standardized, evidence-based care. This initiative is a collaborative effort between Alberta Health Services and amyloidosis experts across the province. Our aim is to provide clinicians with an easy-to-use resource to improve understanding of amyloidosis and to help guide patient care.
The new Amyloidosis Pathway will serve to promote awareness, heighten clinical suspicion and guide diagnostic workup, referral and management strategies for patients with known or suspected amyloidosis. Our goal is to facilitate earlier disease recognition, diagnosis, referral to specialized treatment centers and treatment initiation to improve patient outcomes.

We are committed to ensuring that patients across Alberta and referring regions have equal and timely access to diagnostic testing and optimal disease treatment by standardizing care practices across the province.
We are exploring innovative ways to improve early diagnosis for patients with symptoms of amyloidosis that are commonly underrecognized.
