Child and Adolescent Imaging Research
The Child and Adolescent Imaging Research (CAIR) program at the Alberta Children's Hospital brings together a group of imaging scientists with the shared goals of understanding how the brain develops in children, and where it is vulnerable in developmental and psychiatric disorders. Founded in 2013 with the support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (ACHF) and Research Institute (ACHRI), as well as the Department of Radiology and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI).
The CAIR program is a hub of technical expertise in developmental neuroimaging, and thereby supports research initiatives across the University of Calgary through inter-disciplinary collaborations with the Departments of Psychiatry, Psychology, Kinesiology, Community Health Sciences and Education.
The goal of Child and Adolescent Imaging Research (CAIR) is to develop and implement a comprehensive pediatric imaging research program including key recruitments, state-of-the-art technology, space and staff with skills to analyze and translate imaging data into interventions that lead to measurable positive health outcomes for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental and mental health disorders.
