Activities

Dr. Nicolas Jacquelot completed his PhD in Cancer Immunology in the laboratory of Professor Laurence Zitvogel at Gustave Roussy Institute. His work has shed light on new molecular and cellular pathways that critically influence patient prognosis and immunotherapy outcomes. He pursued his postdoctoral training in Professor Gabrielle Belz’s group at The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and in Professor Pamela Ohashi’s laboratory at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. His research has revealed the role and function of innate lymphoid cells in anti-tumor immunity and immunotherapy responses. Altogether, his studies have provided a better understanding of the role and function of immune lymphocytes, particularly T cells and the recently discovered innate lymphoid cells in cancer.

In January 2023, Dr. Jacquelot will open his laboratory at the University of Calgary in the Cumming School of Medicine to pursue the development of innovative research trajectories and further study the role and function of the immune system in cancer. Research in his laboratory will involve the exploration of the tumor microenvironment using cutting-edge approaches, sophisticated mouse models and patient samples. A better understanding of the immune system in cancer will not only provide new insights into the molecular and cellular mechanisms responsible for treatment efficacy or failure but will also provide new potential targets for future therapy development.
