Fellows receive weekly academic time to work on an abstract, research project, quality improvement initiative, educational exhibit, or other specialty interest. Additional research time for RPC-approved hypothesis-driven research within our department is available to Fellows, but is considered on an individual basis and project merits.

The Neuroradiology faculty are involved in numerous collaborative research projects in the areas of adult stroke, perinatal and neonatal topics, neuro-oncology, head & neck oncology, dementia, and multiple sclerosis. Fellows should participate in scholarly projects with mentorship provided by one of our Neuroradiology faculty members.

The Image Science Division, which serves as the basic research arm of our Department of Radiology, brings together PhD imaging scientists across the spectrum from neuroradiology to musculoskeletal, to cardiovascular, or paediatrics. This Division creates a rich learning environment for training undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students, as well as interested Neuroradiology Fellows. With a current group of approximately 14 faculty, 15 staff, and 70 trainees, the Image Science Division is amongst the top imaging research groups in Canada.

Funding is available to support Fellow conference travel to present completed and original research conducted at the University of Calgary within the Department of Radiology. All conference travel grant applications will be evaluated for eligibility and merit, and will be awarded on a competitive basis (similar to funding available through the Post-Graduate Medical Education office at the University of Calgary).
