Fellows will be regularly exposed to a broad spectrum of subspecialty multidisciplinary and other educational rounds.

The Neuroradiologist has a fundamental role in many multi-disciplinary rounds as a “core member” at our centre. Multi-disciplinary rounds, a model of care in which multiple members of the care team representing different disciplines come together to discuss the care of a patient in real time, have proven to be a valuable tool in improving the quality, safety, and patient experience of care. Examples of multi-disciplinary rounds in our program include Head & Neck Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, Thyroid Tumor Board Rounds, Dementia, Epilepsy Surgical Conference, Neonatal Intensive Care Rounds, Multiple Sclerosis, Clinical Neuroscience Grand rounds, and Stroke rounds. 

Multidisciplinary rounds improve communication between different specialties and are a good opportunity for trainees to learn, and for faculty members to update their professional knowledge. While the primary function of most multidisciplinary rounds is clinical, not educational, they most certainly do help to deepen the level of knowledge of participants over time. Feedback about radiological diagnoses, improved knowledge of cancer, stroke and other treatments, and interaction with referring clinicians are perceived as major benefits.

As part of our Neuroradiology Fellowship Program’s curriculum, our faculty provide weekly (Sep-Jun) educational conferences to our Fellows (e.g., didactic lectures, workshops, and group-based seminars) that cover the spectrum of topics across brain, spine, head and neck, and relevant non-interpretative skills.
