Biography

Peyman Ghasemi is a Biomedical Engineering PhD candidate at the University of Calgary, working under the supervision of Dr. Joon Lee. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Bioelectric) from the University of Tehran. Motivated by his interest in the economic, management, and policymaking aspects of healthcare, he went on to pursue an MSc in Health Economics at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Additionally, Peyman has collaborated with start-up companies to develop Artificial Intelligence solutions for various software products.

Combining his engineering skillset (Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Signal Processing, etc.) with interdisciplinary approaches, Peyman is passionate about developing robust, cost-effective solutions to real-world problems, particularly within the healthcare domain. His current research focuses on the application of Reinforcement Learning in cardiovascular medicine. Outside of academia, Peyman enjoys philosophy, detective novels, and world music.
