In December, 2021, Dr. Bultz was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Canada (O.C.) "for his sustained contributions to the field of psychosocial oncology, notably his pioneering research of distress as the sixth vital sign."

The Order of Canada is one of Canada's highest civilian honours and "recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation" (Governor General of Canada)
