At the Alberta Collaboration of Excellence for Nutrition in Digestive Diseases (Ascend), we’re interested in nutrition as it relates to digestive diseases. Our ambition is to pursue innovative nutrition research that holds the potential to change the lives of those affected by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), cirrhosis and intestinal failure (IF).
We’re not only focused on groundbreaking research, our passion lies in translating and applying our research findings into real world clinical settings. Fundamentally, we’re interested in all types of treatments - from conventional to methods like yoga and meditation for overall wellness.
Through a collaborative approach built on partnerships with academic institutions, government, industry partners and research organizations, we hope to expand on the potential for leading-edge nutrition research to inform clinical guidelines. The goal? To enhance treatments for digestive diseases in Alberta and beyond.
