Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

CME Commitment to EDI

The Office of CME&PD is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the development and delivery of evidence-based educational and assessment activities. We will foster an EDI culture by recognizing and respecting the unique qualities and attributes of all individuals, including learners, scientific planning committee, faculty and staff. We will create positive and inclusive learning, working and social environments where individuals’ different perspectives are welcomed and valued.

For our Learners

  • Create a safe and accessible learning environment
  • Identify barriers to and facilitate inclusive participation in educational opportunities
  • Develop programming that acknowledges the structural barriers and inequities in health systems and their impacts on health outcomes
  • Design educational opportunities that feature diverse content and incorporate a decolonized curriculum

For our Scientific planning committees, faculty and staff

  • Promote selection of scientific planning committee members, speakers, moderators, facilitators, authors and staff to reflect a diverse group of individuals with regard to sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnocultural, religion, socio-economic and geographic backgrounds
  • Ensure processes to recruit membership that reflects the broadest range of qualifications, skills, experiences and perspectives
