Residency Program Ombudsperson
- Each residency program has an Ombudsperson assigned to objectively and confidentially field questions especially relating to academic or professional concerns. Assigned individuals are physicians who are at arm's length from the program with which they work, and interactions with them have no evaluative or academic influence.

Professional Organizations and Associations
- Professional Association of Resident Physicians of Alberta (PARA)
- PARA hosts resident-specific events throughout the year, provides health and well-being information and supports, and advocates on residents' behalf under the Collective Agreement. Check out the web page links for more information or to contact a representative.
- Resident Doctors of Canada (formerly Canadian Association of Interns and Residents)
- Provides a national resident voice on issues related to training in Canada, profiles relevant wellness resources, and undertakes research to capture current resident needs and develop new initiatives.
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
- Protects the professional integrity of physicians and promotes safe medical care in Canada. They provide specific information on seeking assistance, and dealing with adverse events in practice.
- The Good Practices Guide promotes safe medical practice, and reduction of medico-legal risk.
- Their e-learning modules provide excellent example-based tutorials on a variety of legal topics in medicine.
- Canadian College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
- Regulates the practice of medicine in Alberta, and outlines the standards of practice, the minimum standard of professional behaviour and ethical conduct expected of all physicians.
