Zhaoyu (Mani) Liu

Biography

Mani has a background in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, and epidemiology. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Northwest University in China, where her passion for applying statistical methods in healthcare emerged.

During her undergraduate years, Mani joined the Medical Big Data Research Center, actively contributing to a project focused on the classification of vibroarthrographic (VAG) signals using statistical learning methods. This experience sparked a profound interest in deciphering patterns within health and medical data.

Motivated by this passion, Mani pursued an MSc in Statistics at the University of Calgary. Her research focused on health services, specifically utilizing administrative data (DAD, NACRS) to predict the length of hospital stays (LOS). This academic pursuit further solidified her expertise in statistical analysis within the healthcare domain.

In her three years at the Center for Health Informatics, Mani has gained valuable experience in analyzing administrative health data using advanced statistical and epidemiological methods. She has demonstrated her expertise in various projects, including the evaluation of healthcare resource utilization, survival analysis, epidemiological investigations, and the creation of interactive visualization dashboards using RShiny.

With a focus on continuous improvement and innovation, Mani continues to perform high-level analysis in the field of biostatistics and health services.
