Program Milestones


Supervisory Committee

Supervisory Committee Set Up Form - By 3 months
Graduate Supervision Policy (University Calendar)
Supervisory Committee Meeting Progress Report - First by 6 months, second by 12 months.
The completed template plus meeting minutes and committee member approval should be sent to the GPA after every meeting.

By 12 months - Thesis Proposal/Draft Thesis Proposal

MSc Students - Will need to submit a formal thesis proposal that is reviewed and approved by their supervisory committee.
PhD Students - Will need to submit a draft thesis proposal that is reviewed and approved by their supervisory committee. Please note that this draft is not considered as the formal thesis proposal that is approved during the formal thesis proposal evaluation step of candidacy.
Note: There is no approval form. Approval can be noted in the supervisory committee meeting documents and the student can send the proposal to their GPA.

Once per year requirements - Student and Supervisor

Annual Progress Report - Each May
Supervisory Committee Meeting - At least once per year

Once per Year Requirements - Student Only

Journal Club Presentation
Research-In-Progress Presentations (excluding MDCH)
-Information about a student's presentation history will need to be included in the student's Annual Progress Report (APR) each May and can also be noted in the supervisory committee meeting progress report.
-Graduate programs often don't keep a list of clubs or seminar series. We recommend students connect with the supervisor's affiliated institute(s).
