Key Changes

Safety/Quality
A number of resources are available to assist programs in providing education for residents on patient safety and quality improvement. Programs may wish to explore material from a number of sources:
- Alberta Health Services offers a Quality and Patient Safety Integrated Curriculum - https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/assets/info/hp/edu/if-hp-edu-qps-integrated-curriculum.pdf. A presentation on the curriculum was provided at the program director's retreat: AHS Quality Patient Safety Curriculum.
- The Health Quality Council of Alberta provides patient safety and quality management education: hqca.ca/education. A presentation on their educational courses was provided at the program director's retreat: HQCA Safety and Quality Education for Residency Programs.
- The CMPA Good Practices Guide offers on-line modules including: "Patient Safety", "Adverse Events", "Human Factors", "Communication - Handovers" and several other related topics - www.cmpa-acpm.ca/serve/docs/ela/goodpracticesguide.
