Feeling overrun by abdominal pain and diarrhea?

If you've tried Imodium and are still experiencing symptoms of abdominal pain and diarrhea, learn how you could be eligible to participate in a research study of an approved drug for Irritable Bowel Syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D).

To pre-qualify for the study, you must:

  • Be 18 to 80 years of age
  • Be diagnosed with IBS-D or have a history of abdominal pain and diarrhea consistent with a diagnosis of IBS-D
  • Have used loperamide (Imodium) in the past 12 months and found that using loperamide did not provide adequate control of your IBS-D symptoms.

All study related visits, tests and treatments are provided at no cost.  In addition, compensation for study related time and travel and parking will be provided.

This is a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving up to 3 weeks of screening, 12 weeks of treatment and a two week follow-up.  All participants will complete daily symptom diaries and attend clinic appointments approximately once per month.  Clinic appointments will take place at the Heritage Medical Research Clinic at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine on the Foothills Campus in Calgary.
