Resident Clinical Fellowship

QuICR’s Education Program will support medical / surgical / emergency medicine residents to complete a 6-month mini clinical fellowship as part of the larger QuICR project.  We anticipate working particularly with the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Neurology to participate; however, other departments can also participate if interested.

Emergency Medicine
High quality acute stroke care is contingent on a seamless collaboration between emergency care providers, stroke neurologists and experts in diagnostic imaging. Residents in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada dedicate 6 months of their 5-year residency training to the development of an area of interest (mini-fellowship) and an additional 6 months to a research block.  Dedicating one or both of these time blocks to developing specialized expertise and project development in acute stroke care, under the collaborative supervision of Emergency and Stroke supervision is highly desirable and will be encouraged by Alberta program directors and leadership in Emergency Medicine. Second year residents can begin this journey during a mandatory 8-week research methods course that they take over the fall months and which is project-based in so far that a proposal is required at completion
